Take to the waters, like visitors across the centuries, in the Spa capital of the UK – Bath!
Since the Romans discovered the hot springs, divine inspiration from Goddess Minerva, visitors to Bath have come in droves to take to the waters and yes, take the waters too! Bath has two UNESCO accreditations, the first is as a World Heritage Site, one of less than 2,000 sites in the whole world; the second accreditation is as one of the Great Spa Towns of Europe – an accolade earned since the mineral-rich thermal springs that leave the ground at over 40 degrees °C were discovered.
The much-alleged healing powers of the spa waters have been well documented and been quite the magnet for the good and the great as a reason to come to Bath; Jane Austen, probably our most famous resident, wasn’t alone in recognising Bath as a fashionable playground. Mary Shelley, Henry Fielding, and Charles Dickens have also all used Bath as inspiration for some of their most acclaimed work.

Roman Baths – the original! Whilst you can no longer bathe in the Roman Baths you can enjoy the ambience of the Great Bath when you visit this most unique of attractions. Visit from Springtime onwards and enjoy the baths by night – highly recommended.
