With the school holidays going live this month, Bristol is alive with family friendly activities, perfect for entertaining the kids – parents, we’ve got you!
Throughout the summer holidays the Wild Place Project are home to , based on Eric Carle’s best-selling book, this trail recreates the journey of the caterpillar from egg to butterfly, through a series of larger-than-life 3D installations. Visitors can crawl, climb and ‘munch’ their way through the caterpillar’s giant fruit sculptures, which come to life through augmented reality. Find and scan the caterpillar’s favourite treats and become immersed in the world of The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Now on until 3rd September.
We The Curious have a Summer of Play planned – Whilst their building is closed, We The Curious team will be bringing the fun out to you this summer holidays! Their team will be setting up on Anchor Square and at venues across the city to create spaces for everyone to experiment, play and get creative. And, all the events are FREE! Keep an eye on their social media for pop-up details.
In the 17th century the Unicorn was part of the Bristol coat of arms and in celebration of its 650th year the UnicornFest art trail crosses the city from Cheddar Gorge to Cribbs Causeway. 60 painted Unicorns, on a family friendly trail, decorated by local artists, are waiting to be discovered. Find Shaun the Sheep at Noah’s Ark Farm on their Hide & Sheep Trail. The zoo is hosting its first ever Shaun the Sheep trail experience, brought to life by augmented reality technology, engaging families and children with their surroundings in an exciting new way.
Over in Bath the American Museum & Gardens is hosting Brick America, where you can discover famous buildings, cityscapes and vehicles and models inspired by movies, history, NASA, iconic people and much more, LEGO artist Warren Elsmore and his team. There are 40 LEGO brick models to get inspired by, including a large replica of Claverton Manor, the Museum’s home.
