The Bristol Festival Scene – if you had the time, energy and wallet you could quite literally attend a festival in Bristol each month of the year.
And there is a festival for everyone too. If you are looking for family friendly, LGBTQ+, foodie, music, culture or community festivals then book a frequent flyer to Brizzle, it’s all going on here.
To help you cut to the chase, we have done some of the groundwork for you; here’s the Mint Stays top five must attend Bristol Festival’s for 2023.
- Unapologetically in 1st place is the St. Paul’s Carnival back after a 3-year break on July 1. Back with a bang the organisers promise a fusion of Afro-Caribbean culture and heritage inter-weaved with the usual procession, sound systems, costumes, musicians and dancers.
- Possibly Bristol’s most famous festival, Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, home to the iconic hot air balloons above Bristol’ Suspension Bridge, returns to lead the charge of family friendly things to do in Bristol from August 10-13th.
- Bristol Pride has a series of events from June 24, leading towards the Pride Parade Day on Saturday July 8th celebrating diversity and the LGBTQ+ Bristol scene, bringing people together in a colourful display of community.
- Celebrating the city’s sea heritage and maritime history, super popular Bristol Harbour Festival floats in to the city 15th & 16th July. The festival stretches the length of the harbour from Cumberland Basin all the way to the Waterfront at The Watershed. Highly recommended.
- Bristol Sounds gets our final nod; a series of outdoor music events on the harbourside. This year the June dates sparkle with the names of Jacob Collier, James and the Levellers. Come on down from June 21-25.
UpFest – an addition to the festival calendar in 2008 is now a bi-annual event; check back in ’24 for Europe’s largest Graffiti fest.
